Somerville Apartments

Adjacent to the Historic Dunbar Hotel are the Somerville Apartments, originally built in 1994 and now renovated as modern family housing. Together, these properties form Dunbar Village, an 83-unit mixed-use, intergenerational community that caters to both seniors and families.

Somerville Apartments is a recently renovated three-story building with 42 affordable housing units, built above ground-level community spaces and retail fronts, with on-grade parking. As a Prevailing Wage project, the renovation included the removal and resurfacing of the existing concrete decking on top of the podium, re-waterproofing, and re-sloping. Additional improvements included the installation of a new roof, upgraded kitchens and bathrooms, new unit front doors with frames and hardware, and significant energy-efficient enhancements such as LED lighting, an updated HVAC system, new Energy Star appliances, a modern elevator, and water-saving plumbing fixtures.

Residents also benefit from a range of amenities, including a new community room, laundry facilities, and extensive exterior upgrades, such as a BBQ area and an outdoor fireplace.
